PURFORD Green Nursery opened in September 2024 and is run by a talented team of highly qualified, caring, and empathetic staff. Children learn through a carefully designed curriculum that develops essential communication and language skills. They also build important social and emotional skills, learning how to form positive relationships and manage their emotions—key foundations that support their future success as they transition into primary school and beyond.

PCLC Primary Excellence Leader, Rhonda Smith, explains: “We prioritise high-quality adult interactions within play and build learning experiences around children’s personal interests alongside a topic-based approach. This ensures children remain engaged, motivated, and excited about their learning.”

Through a balance of whole-class, small group, and one-to-one teaching, children develop the ability to listen, concentrate, and engage in short, focused sessions across Maths, Phonics, Literacy, and other areas of the curriculum. We also foster a lifelong love of reading, carefully selecting texts that inspire curiosity and support learning missions throughout each child’s nursery journey.

Children regularly visit the main school building to build confidence and familiarity with staff and environments, supporting a smooth and positive transition into Reception. They use the school hall for PE and enjoy participating in whole-school events, helping them feel part of the wider school community from the very beginning.
