PUPILS from across the four primary schools within PCLC Trust (Pear Tree Mead, Potter Street, Purford Green and The Downs) came together this week for an exciting Cross-Primary Spelling Bee Final, celebrating literacy, confidence and a love of language.
Following preliminary rounds held in each primary school, the top spellers advanced to the grand final where they competed in front of teachers and fellow pupils. The event showcased the impressive spelling abilities of pupils from across the Trust and highlighted the importance of reading and vocabulary development.

The competition was closely contested, with participants demonstrating excellent concentration and determination as they tackled a range of increasingly challenging words.
After several thrilling rounds, the winners for each year group were announced:
Year 3: David
Year 4: Alex
Year 5 : Jamie
Year 6: Leon
All finalists were praised for their hard work and commitment in preparing for the event, and every participant received a certificate in recognition of their achievement.
Emma Bloomfield. PCLC Executive Headteacher said:
“We are incredibly proud of all the pupils who took part. Spelling bees are a brilliant way to develop vocabulary and encourage a love of reading, while also giving children the opportunity to challenge themselves in a supportive environment.”
The Cross-Primary Spelling Bee forms part of the PCLC Trust’s wider commitment to promoting strong literacy skills and creating opportunities for pupils from different schools to learn and celebrate success together.
The Trust looks forward to hosting the competition again next year and continuing to showcase the talents of its young learners.
