Ward by ward: Little Parndon and Town Centre: Reform to take MP Chris Vince’s former ward?
Elections / Sun 3rd May 2026 at 02:57pm
BACK in 2021, Labour had a very very bad night. The only seat they successfully defended was Little Parndon and Hare Street. The Labour candidate Chris Vince retained his seat by 82 votes.
Of course, that was a two-horse race.

This time, we have Reform.
By 2024, the Conservatives dominated the outer wards of Harlow and Labour hung on to the inner.
Now it looks like Labour are going to lose those.

All parties have poor periods. Labour’s problem in Harlow is the prospect of a West Essex Unitary Authority. But that is for another time.
Labour’s candidate is their deputy leader Lanie Shears. She is at present a councillor in Mark Hall. This isn’t, we believe, what is known in the game as a chicken run. More like the planned candidate was abroad and unable to sign their papers.
We also think (with all due respect) that the Conservative candidate may be a paper candidate. Simon Carter was a very highly regarded councillor over in Church Langley for many years.
The Green candidate Madison Baker is their one Young Green. We get the distinct impression that she is their only Young Green.
Following the success in the Denton By-Election and the anticipated success in London on May 7th, this should have been an opportunity for a dozen or so energised young Greens to be out and about. They keep telling us they exist but..to quote Delia Smith…..

The Reform candidate is Wendy-Jane Harding. That is about all we know. We did request an interview but it wants possible at time we asked.
As anyone who has represented this ward, they will know it is very rewarding and very demanding.
YH Prediction: Reform Gain
List of Candidates

Note to Editor: having attended several Green Party meetings I can confirm that there is only one active Young Green. However, she is as keen as mustard, but the local Green Party have failed miserably to exploit all the publicity surrounding fake working class candidate Hannah Spencer. Not the classic working class icon as she was packaged. The evidence is supplied in her Trafford Borough Council Register of Interests. Hannah Spencer never joined the GMB or any other union when she worked for EON as a gas engineer.
They support pro-Palestinian activism in the UK, including attempts to restrict the flying of the Palestinian flag, yet oppose British flags and British defence. Their messiah is failed former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. Other Labour councillors linked to this far left group include Jodi Dunne and Nancy Watson. In the past, Momentum's anti Israel stance has been linked as a cover for anti-semitism. Voters should aware.
Graham, I'm assuming you meant to say "attempts to promote the flying of the Palestinian flag"?
My apologies. Yes. Lanie Shears is reportedly a member/supporter of the hard left Momentum faction, which among other things opposes attempts to restrict the flying of Palestinian flags. Whatever our views on Gaza there is evidence that it is being used as a cover for anti-semitism by extremists, on which point Momentum is largely silent.
Graham, Lanie Shears has been very largely silent on Gaza apart from a single Tweet. This tweet prompted the Trots in the Socialist Workers Party to laud her as a hero, but to the Muslim Forman family she is a total zero for her acquiescence to the Starmer agenda. Don't worry, Lanie has heard similar from me in person outside Passmores Academy.
Often confront women in the street do you, Mr Forman?
