Research shows catastrophic impact of Brexit on UK economy
Business / Fri 10th Jun 2022 at 10:38am

THE Centre for European Reform (CER) has modelled the economic performance of a UK that remained in the EU – using data from countries like the US, Germany, New Zealand, Norway and Australia – whose performance was similar to ours before Brexit reports the LondonEconomic.Com
It then compared this with the real performance of the UK economy since the referendum six years ago.
It comes as the PM took aim at his own government’s tariffs on imports of food that is not produced domestically, saying their removal could ease the UK’s cost-of-living crisis
The full report can be seen here.
Brexit is an unmitigated disaster. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Cut off easy access to one of the largest markets in the world, stop the flow of highly skilled professionals, tradesmen, seasonal crop pickers in and out of the uk, build a boarder in the middle of the Irish Sea, become the money launderette capital of the world... what could possibly have gone wrong?
If this is true then Why is Germany being referred to as the sick man of Europe.? Truth is lobby groups create think tanks and other groups to create data that reinforce their messages. This happens on all sides of the political spectrum. Moral is if you see a headline by a body you have not heard from much before then it is probably one of these groups.. Best example is the National Rifle Association in the USA. It’s funded by the pro gun lobby, so you will never see it push anything to tighten gun control.
Load of didgeridoo.
Yes, yes, but, but what about the Glorious benefits of The Glorious Brexit, eh? We now have Blue passports! OK, so we could have had blue passports without Brexit, but surely this must be counted as a benefit? Then there are all the other benefits that this government have found. Yes, they have spent months, and vast amounts of money tracking down all of the benefits and have proposed going back to Imperial Measurements! Surely tanking the economy, having higher inflation than the EU, rotting unpicked crops in the fields, all this is worth it, so we can buy a pint of milk! And don't forget the best benefit of all - the £350M a week that will be going to the NHS! Any day now....

The research referred to by this article was done by the Centre For European Reform. They also produced this research from either 2012 or 2003: https://www.cer.eu/sites/default/files/publications/attachments/pdf/2012/policybrief_germany_man_kb-5422.pdf And there is this article from 1999: https://www.economist.com/special/1999/06/03/the-sick-man-of-the-euro Any reference to Germany currently being the sick man of europe is looking at vastly out of date data. Brexiters really do like living in the past. Moral is just because you haven't heard of the institution producing the research doesn't mean it is wrong.
Few brainwashed tory comments from tax avoiding tory media, Need to go back and read between the lines of there media
So depressing to note Brexiteers in these comments are still struggling to accept the truth that they’ve been sold a crock of shit, so they toss out lies to bolster their indefensible position. The truth is Brexit was sold to them on a bed of lies, misinformation and proven illegalities. Its effects are becoming known now after being effectively masked by the pandemic for over two years and Brexiteers are still too blind to realise they’ve been made fools of. Truth is Brexiteers are a dying breed, but like Johnson they refuse to back down and listen to evidence. Such fragile egos.
The uk economy is on life support From the bank of england The people who wanted Brexit Were mislead.
No country in Europe has ever survived outside the EU. Before the EU was started every country in Europe lived in third world conditions. British people lived in the EU for decades, it was a golden age that we look back on and dream. We try to live in the past, remembering that utopia, but we know it's over and will never return.
The trouble is a real Brexit was never given the fudge they received is a pile of crock and the country has been given to the EU to filter its wealth and sovereignty.
I voted out but have realized that it’s been a disaster- I’m of the Spain in a few months to live

Whatever the outcome, I don't really care ,I'd sooner stand tall ,then live on my knees .short term pain for long term gain ,we shall see in the fullness of time .Not for one minute would I accept data from the EU, whose objective is to stop losing anymore nations to justify their existence !!! A brexiteer now and in the future no matter what the cost ,I wouldn't bet against the UK something the whingers should remember, its called democracy !!!
Only stiupid people and the one with no education voted for brexit!!!! How stiupid and short minds you had to be to support brexit
Chris Hayes tells us it's a case of "short term pain for long term gain". We could maybe accept that if we knew how bad the pain, how short term - and how great the long term gain. But he also tells us "no matter what the cost". Really? Even if the cost is enormous and catastrophic for some we should all still hail Brexit as a source of celebration? It's true thst the decision was democratic. But "democratic" is not the same as "wise". As anyone would say who ever saw a party they did not vote for winning an election.
I did not vote for Brexit. I lost that one. take it on the chin and move on. Like I have said many times, working together and not falling for all the divide and conquer is the best way forward.
