Central Connect detail thousands of pounds worth of damage caused to their buses

Crime / Fri 9th May 2025 at 09:18am

A SPOKESPERSON for Central Connect Buses has issued a statement to YH in which they explain why they have (part) suspended their bus service into Sumners.

A spokesperson said: “Central Connect took the decision to suspend services to the Sumners estate in Harlow following repeated acts of vandalism against our vehicles.

These acts, in the week leading to Easter, caused several thousand pounds worth of damage and took the respective vehicles off the road for several days each whilst specialist repairs were carried out.

It is very fortunate that the attacks did not cause any injuries to those on board.

We appreciate and understand that the temporary removal of Service 1 from the estate on evenings and Sundays may cause disruption to passengers, however we cannot risk the safety of our staff or passengers, or further damage to our vehicles.

“This is now being investigated by Essex Police. Once their efforts have concluded and we are satisfied the risk of further attacks has passed we will look to restore a full service on the route”.

Obviously not condoning vandalism but how does the cost of this damage compare to the cost of damage caused by the state of repair of our roads

Peter. What's that got to do with buses being vandalised in the Sumners estate , different situation entirely.

Mummy & daddy must be really proud of their babies. Make their parents pay for the damages
