SHOPPERS at The Harvey Centre are in for a musical treat on Saturday 28th June, as the Harlow Steelband will be performing live on the ground floor between 1:45pm and 4:00pm.
This vibrant and energetic steel pan band, made up of young people aged 11 and above, will be showcasing a mix of traditional soca rhythms and popular hits including Dance The Night, Golden Hour, As It Was, Light Switch, Take On Me, Bad Habits, I’m Still Standing, and Sweet Caroline.

Harlow Steelband, established in 2003 with support from Harlow Council and London’s renowned Ebony Steelband, is a local charity run by volunteer trustees.
The band offers weekly steel pan workshops for young people, requiring no previous musical experience to join. Their mission is to provide a creative and inclusive space where young people can learn new skills, express themselves, build confidence, and connect with others across all backgrounds – while having fun through music.
Visitors will also be treated to free food samples from Adunni’s, The Harvey Centre’s Afrofusion restaurant located on the first floor. Known for its authentic African and Caribbean cuisine. Adunni’s offers a bold and flavourful menu that celebrates the culinary richness of the regions it represents.
Bryan Young, Centre Manager at The Harvey Centre, said:
“We can’t wait to welcome Harlow Steelband for what promises to be a lively and feel-good afternoon. It’s a fantastic opportunity to enjoy great music, discover new flavours, and support the young talent and cultural diversity that make Harlow so special.”
Come along for an afternoon of uplifting music, delicious food, and community spirit—only at The Harvey Centre.
