WORK by our officers have led to the conviction of seven people for their part in a series of motorbike thefts in Chelmsford.
In total, 54 motorbikes and mopeds with a total value of £240,000 were stolen during a five-month period in 2024 and 2025.

The group were all arrested during a series of co-ordinated warrants at properties in properties in Chelmsford, Great Waltham, and Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, on 31 March last year.
Further arrests were later made at a hotel in Chelmsford and a property in Danbury.
Searches of the properties led to the seizure of cash, mobile phones, clothing, tools, and two e-bikes.
Footage had been circulating on social media of motorbike thefts and the taunting of victims.
They were all charged with conspiracy to steal motor vehicles. The seven are:
• Lennon Miller, 19, of Shlley Road, Chelmsford
• Buster Digby, 19, of Woodward Gardens Sawbridgeworth
• Brandon Wilson, 19, of Bardell Close, Chelmsford
•Danny Taylor, 18, of Berecroft, Harlow
• Lenny Digby, 18, of Woodward Gardens, Sawbridgeworth
• A 16 year-old boy from Sawbridgeworth
• A 16 year-old boy from Great Waltham
All seven have now admitted the offences against them with the most recent pleading guilty on 15, 16, and 17 June and are now due to be sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court at a later date.
Detective Inspector Guy Turnbull, from Chelmsford CID, said: “Motorbike thefts had been a significant issue in Chelmsford and we understand the emotional and financial impact that having your bike stolen has.
“People rely on their motorbikes, they are expensive to replace and discovering your bike has been stolen is extremely distressing.
“A committed team worked tirelessly to prevent further offending, identify those responsible, and track down stolen bikes.
“These convictions are the result of a significant amount of hard work and dedication. As a result of this work, the seven defendants were left with no option but to admit their guilt.”
