Scouts hone first aid skills

Communities / Mon 17th Feb 2014 at 11:26am

THIRTY-eight Scouts from five groups in Harlow spent the day improving their emergency aid skills.

They practiced what to do at the scene of an accident, how to treat unconscious patients, how to handle major bleeding, burns and scalds and choking.

Jack (aged 10) from 16th Harlow said “It was good fun and I learnt a lot. I think skip asked me to be the unconscious patient just to keep me quiet!”

The aim for the day was to gain their Emergency Aid 3 badge.

Now the Scouts are looking forward to an incident hike in March where they will be able to practise some of the skills they learnt.
