HUNDREDS of twinkly lights will shine out brightly in memory of someone special this yuletide after special Christmas trees were lit during nine Light Up A Life services organised by St Clare Hospice.
Relatives and friends came together to celebrate the lives of those they have lost at the ceremonies held across the Hospice’s catchment area during December.
Almost 500 people attended the two services held at the Hastingwood-based centre, which were led by St Clare chaplain Rev Joyce Smith, giving families the chance to reflect, share fond memories and gain comfort at what can be a difficult time of year.
The services featured poignant readings and carol singing before the lighting of the Christmas tree and a firework finale.
The other services were held at Loughton Methodist Church, St Martin’s Church in Ongar, Waltham Abbey Church, St John’s Church in Epping, St Mary’s Church in Stansted, the United Reformed Church in Dunmow and St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Harlow.
