Dizzy Ducks nursery once again slammed by Ofsted

A PRE-SCHOOL based in the Harlow Leisurezone has once again being slammed by Ofsted.

The pre-school was placed in special measures in November.

At that time, the pre-school came out fighting and told YH that they were determined to prove the government watchdogs wrong.

Things looked a bit brighter after two visits indicated that there were improvements. However, a full inspection recently looks like the nursery is firmly stuck at the bottom.

The report said:

1.Observation and assessment of children’s learning is weak. Staff lack sufficient knowledge to assess children’s learning to identify and plan for their individual needs.

2.At times, staff do not give children time to think about their responses to questions that they ask, so that children can put their thoughts into words as part of their language development. Limited use of open questions by staff fails to maximise mathematical learning opportunities.

3.Staff failure to complete an accurate written record of a recent accident in the setting in a timely manner does not promote children’s health and well-being.

4.The manager’s monitoring of staff practice is not sufficiently developed to focus on those areas which need most improvement.

There was one good point mentioned. Ofsted said: “Staff form positive relationships with children. Consequently, children demonstrate that they feel safe and secure”.

YH has sent a request for a statement to Dizzy Ducks but had not had a reply at the time of publication.
