Blogpost: Why I am taking on the 52-mile challenge around Harlow

Charity / Thu 28th Jun 2018 pm30 01:13pm

A JUNIOR Doctor at Princess Alexandra Hospital is set to join her colleague in a 52 mile charity run.

As reported on Monday, Dr Dev Ghosh will undertake the challenge, taking in three hospitals on Saturday June 30th.

Going along with him is Junior Dr Asmah Hassan Syed.

So we asked her a simple question: Why?

“What made me want to do this? I’ve always loved my sports and especially running. Being a doctor, it’s hard to make time for this and at the end of my 4th training year it’s time for another type of challenge.

“I previously did a similar run/walk challenge in Suffolk, that was 30 miles so I thought ….. 50 miles why not?

“I feel that patients are always challenged by lifestyle advice being beneficial for their health, but one can only appreciate this when on the receiving end.

By doing this run/walk challenge we hope to raise money for the fibro scanner for our liver patients. This will allow us to provide the best care for them and plan to prevent early disease progressing to advanced liver disease.

I am just an ordinary person who wants to do extraordinary things. Happy to go the extra mile to help my patients.

Wish us luck and keep an eye out for post run/walk articles.
