SOCIAL media is amazing these days, as you can achieve so much with the power of Hashtags, Retweets, Shares, Like and Favourites.

The truth is, social media — when used strategically over time — is the most powerful form of marketing and market research the world has ever seen. But it’s not a magic bean that grows overnight into business success. It’s a platform for real work.

Why? Because the internet has always been social. The tools are still “relatively new”, but communication and interaction are as old as humanity itself. That’s why so many essential principles of web communication haven’t changed much from the old days of face-to-face selling.

What the internet does change is the pace, scale, and cost of communication. You can send more messages to more people, more quickly and more cheaply, than ever in history. But what you’re going to say doesn’t change just because you’re using more efficient technology.

But one of the best things about social media is the way it can unite people behind causes and be a force for good. Its immediacy and accessibility has allowed it to contribute to everything, and I mean everything.

Social media platforms like Twitter have given me and so many other people a lot of power. So now, with all of these ways to have our voices heard, I think that we should be empowered to use that freedom for good. People need to start listening to what the common person has to say and understand that so much good can come from this opportunity if we encouraged social media.
