Sky’s the limit for daring St Clare Hospice fundraisers

A trio of hospice fundraisers are taking on a skydive challenge on Saturday 8th September 2018 in aid of West Essex and East Herts charity, St Clare Hospice.
Dani De’ath (St Clare’s Community Fundraising Lead, 32 years old, from Harlow), Emma Broadbent (St Clare’s Challenges and Events Fundraiser, 23 years old, from Coopersale) and Rachel Lines (St Clare’s Community Fundraising Admin, 23 years old, from Bishop’s Stortford) work together within St Clare Hospice’s Fundraising team.
Each year as part of their role at the Hospice, the trio are targeted to raise approximately £430,000 for St Clare – enough to run all of the hospice’s essential care services for a month and a half. This September, the team of three are going above and beyond and are taking on a personal fundraising challenge, hoping to raise a total of £1,000 for St Clare, the hospice they love.
The three fundraising colleagues will join 12 other brave hospice supporters at the charity’s skydiving challenge, as Team St Clare take an exhilarating leap out of an aeroplane from 13,000ft (approx. 2 miles). The skydive experience, in which participants are attached to a highly experienced instructor, includes a free-fall where they will reach speeds of 120mph over a 5,000ft descent before opening their parachute and landing safely back down to earth.
Commenting as a team, Dani, Emma and Rachel said: “It’s safe to say that we are all a little bit nervous about our up-coming challenge, but we know that we are doing it for a really great cause that benefits our local community. So often in our roles we see the difference St Clare’s care and support can make to people, and we know that it is only possible with thanks to our incredible family of fundraisers and supporters. We feel amazing knowing that we are joining Team St Clare as personal challengers. Each and every one of our supporters means so much to St Clare, so we’re honoured to be a part of that – going the extra mile outside of our roles at the Hospice.”
A team of 15 brave hospice supporters will participate in the skydive on Saturday 8th September, at Sibson Aerodrome in Peterborough. Once all sponsorship has been collected, the charity skydiving challenge is expected to raise £10,000 for St Clare Hospice.
