Athletics / Fri 19th Apr 2024 at 02:42pm

AS you may know we are following the large number of Harlow residents who are set to take on the 44th running of the London Marathon.

We will be following them all via the race app and wish them all the very best.

“With three days to go, it is starting to feel really real now! I can’t believe that I have been training for around 4-5 months for the marathon.

I have joined the Harlow running club and loving doing track sessions with them. I also went to the expo yesterday and picked up my running bib and tracking device so everyone can track me whilst i’m running.

Now it is just resting and eating loads of carbs to prepare me for Sunday!

IT IS just a few days away now and looking forward to it. At least all the long runs are done and it’s taper time .

We did a charity quiz at the Master Barista in the Water Gardens and I would just like to say an amazing thanks to all the people that came to support us.

The weather is going to be cool but really looking forward to it now just going to enjoy the day, soak up the atmosphere and looking forward to seeing all the people coming out to support.

Gemma Smith

I ran the London Landmarks Marathon a few weeks ago in 2:10:11. and 20 miles the weekend before that!

Have a little calf injury but it’s not stopping me from running on Sunday.

Plan to gently taper down, lots of Epsom salt baths, stretch daily, Pilates, carb load, get my body well hydrated and hopefully my calf will ease as well!

Very excited for the marathon. I feel so privileged to be running again!

Dan Long and Laura Wise

FIVE members of staff from St Elizabeth’s are taking on the brave challenge of running the marathon, all to raise money for St Elizabeth’s.

Dan and Laura went up to the XCel Arena to pick up their accreditation.

Dan was in very positive mood when we spoke to him and we all the team the very best.
