The Big Get Together at Harlow Town Park by Dave Hobbs

IN a week of momentous political moments this event hosted some moments of its own with some of the central organisations of the Harlow Care Community coming together despite some unfortunate weather.

Harlow Hospital Radio got to try out their new gear on the bandstand thanks to a grant from the Nuffield Health Centres Trust ending with “Sweet Caroline” and perhaps a nod to the football match coming up later.

Kelly and Kate and Jenny and Ron and the team from Rainbow Services were looking towards brighter weather.  They were also providing refreshments and some very artistic face painting for all as well as information on some of the care options on offer.

The Community Hub, Citizens Advice, Health Watch and Essex Fire Service were all in attendance along with Find Your Active, Integration Support and Plant Pots and Wellies where “Pickles Pawtraits” were gaining attention along with gonks and teapots.

Diane and Chloe from Reach Out for Mental Health were terrific with their services aimed at suicide prevention with Sunflowers also present along with St Pauls Church and Della from Volunteer Essex.

Having witnessed Rowen Saunders thrill at seeing a hedgehog this week at the Plant Pots and Wellies site and a sighting of Harlow’s new MP Chris Vince, all it needed was to spot an Olivier nominated Dance Choreographer and my day would be complete.

Up stepped Rhiannon Faith and crew making preparations for their upcoming event in August on top of the Care Workshops running at Harlow Playhouse.

This event began as a tribute to MP Jo Cox and as the political weather changes once again it was good to see the Harlow Community braving the rain and hoping for sunnier days to come.

Of course, later in the day the rain cleared and there was nothing but Blue Sky!
