THE leader of the Harlow Labour group, cllr Mark Wilkinson has described UKIP’s success as “Just a protest vote.”
Labour retained power but this seemed to be overshadowed by UKIP taking five seats on the council.
YH spoke to the outgoing leader about the election results and where the party goes from there.
O dear Mark! One of the winning UKIP Candidates Dan Long is an ex-Labour Candidate. We won the popular vote, five seats to your 4 and the Tories 3, and lost 3 seats by 26, 28 or 58 - you held onto the Council by those 26 votes in Harlow Common! Last year we were 399 votes from winning the Parliamentary Seat - last night we WON IT! 7122 votes for UKIP, to Labour's 6985 and Tories 5892! That's a hell of a protest vote! Only one policy? That's one more than Labour for a start! More right wing than the Tories? We oppose the Bedroom Tax - so that's nonsense too! LOVE HARLOW _ VOTE UKIP - GET UKIP!!!
