I’m not bitter, I’m angry!

Last September, the Corbynistas in Harlow Labour Party orchestrated my deselection. Because I wasn’t prepared to stay silent whilst some elements plotted and undermined and ultimately made the positions of other councillor colleagues untenable, I earned myself “a number of enemies” as one Labour Councillor informed me, that would negate nearly eight years of service to party, ward and town.

However, it wouldn’t matter, because despite leaving only one councillor living in the Bush Fair ward, the credible, visible and knowledgeable presence would not disappear.

But it has. Ask the butcher, the baker and the cafe owner. I have. Bush Fair councillors are nowhere to be seen I am reliably informed.

So when I see that apparently there is still a ward vacancy alongside the other adverts for last year’s events, I have to ask myself, is it a vacancy for one or more councillors that don’t care – because they’re just not there.

Of course, they’ll rush to put this right as they did with the insulting “paper plate cover up” and they’ll be quick to provide a long list of public engagements that no-one knew about, and how they’ll be donating their allowances to the homeless which, if they really cared about, they could have increased the grant aid direct.

They can’t be bothered. I wonder how many people won’t be bothered to vote next May either?
