ON Saturday March 8th 2014 at Anglia Ruskin University Chelmsford, Essex Book Festival will host its Writers’ Day – an inspirational event bringing together top names from the world of publishing to help writers and aspiring writers across the county to develop their skills and network with publishers, agents and fellow writers.
Juliet Pickering from leading literary agents Blake Friedmann will lead a session on How to Get an Agent; Dr Alison Baverstock will explore whether you have the time, talent and tenacity to finish writing a book in her session Is There a Book in You?; Alysoun Owen (editor of the indispensible Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook) will offer advice on How to Get Published; and digital/social media expert Carla Watkins will offer hints and tips about Social Media / Writing in a Digital Age.
Local bookseller Red Lion Books will provide a bookstall, offering a range of writing guides from Bloomsbury, including the latest Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook. There will be refreshments, an opportunity for you question the workshop leaders during a Q&A panel discussion, and specialist online resources for you to follow up after the day.
Writers’ Day organiser Andrew Burton said, “We have devised the Writers’ Day programme as a result of feedback from local writers and writing groups. I hope that participants will emerge from the day buzzing with new ideas and focused on turning their writing ambitions into reality”.
