A total of thirteen local businesses from across Essex and Hertfordshire came together on Thursday 21st June at Harlow Town Football Club’s arena to compete against each other at a Corporate Football Tournament hosted by neighbouring hospice charities, St Clare Hospice and Isabel Hospice, and sponsored by Gates Ford.

The round-robin 5-a-side tournament saw 20 teams take part in the event, which has raised an estimated £5,000 of vital funding to be shared between St Clare Hospice and Isabel Hospice.

The participating businesses included: Alloy Fabweld, Cariad Marketing, Connect Scaffolding, DCS Sonovision, Gates Ford, HB Accountants, HTS Group, Land Sheriffs, Latent Digital, Ongar Dairy Limited, Synthomer, Team Sport and Weston Homes

The four semi-finalists were HB Accountants, Connect Scaffolding, Weston Homes and Synthomer. Winning the tournament was Synthomer, who took home the Hospice Cup after winning the final match against their rivals, HB Accountants, with a score after penalites of 3-2.

St Clare Hospice’s Corporate Partnerships Manager, Amy Jacobs, said: “A huge congratulations to Synthomer on winning the highly coveted hospice charity football trophy! The enthusiasm and positive vibes on the night were absolutely heart-warming, and the buzzing atmosphere made the whole event one to remember. A big thank-you to all the companies who took part and helped to make the event such a success.”

Isabel Hospice’s Head of Community and Events, Beth Hardy, said: “We want to say a massive thank-you to each and every team and player who took part – their incredible support for St Clare and Isabel Hospices is what enables us both to provide excellent specialist palliative care to the whole of West Essex and Eastern Hertfordshire. It has been an absolute pleasure to partner up with our neighbouring hospice, St Clare, to put on this incredible annual event for the local community and to raise vital funding. We can’t wait for next year’s tournament already!”
