History / Tue 2nd Nov 2021 at 09:40am

THEY do things right at Harlow Rugby Club and there was no greater example than on Saturday when they raised over £6,000 for the Royal British Legion, Harlow branch’s Poppy Appeal.

The day began with a ceremony of dedication at the Latton Park’s area of remembrance, just behind the main pitch.

This was led by the Reverend Albert Watson. A special wreath on behalf of th club was laid by club president, Alan Price.

At a special rugby club lunch, speeches supporting the Poppy Appeal were made by Club President, Alan Price, the chair of Harlow Royal British Legion, Bob Hunt and Harlow MP Robert Halfon.

The 1st XV kit had a commemorative remembrance kit. Members of the club thanked sponsors Whistlers Solicitors LLP and Gates Ford of Harlow plus the match day sponsors, Amicus Asset Finance, who also provided the kit for the day.

After the two teams (Harlow and Kings Cross Steelers) were led out, another small ceremony of remembrance took place.

After the game, a special auction of the kit and various raffles took place. A grand total of £6,780.00 was raised.

A fantastic effort on a fantastic day.
