Potter Street community pay their respects on Armistice Day

History / Sat 11th Nov 2023 at 03:35pm

THE POTTER Street community gathered together on Armistice Day to remember those who had fallen in wars and conflicts around the world.

The ceremony led by Rev. Alison Taylor of Potter Street Baptist Church spoke to the assembled crowd of local residents in what is always a very personal remembrance.

The names of those on the memorial are from the cottages, houses and homes from well over a hundred years ago. Many will recognise Latton Street, The Sun and Whalebone, Shoe Lane, Mill Street and Potter Street.

A two minute silence was observed and a wreath laid by a local school pupil.

Thank you to David and Stephen for their work in keeping the memorial today.

The war memorial is south of St Mary Magdalene Church, it's on the right side of London Road towards Miller and Carter just past turning of Harlow Common road which is on the left. Clear as mud?! Try typing 51.7533941, 0.1335160 coordinates into Google maps. Hope this helps
