ESSEX County Council is shining a light on the contributions of young carers this Young Carers Action Day.
There are an estimated 10,000 young carers in Essex who play a vital role in providing essential care and support to family members. Some of these carers can be as young as five and often balance their school and social lives with their caring duties.

Councillor Mark Durham, Cabinet Member with responsibility for the youth service said: “We are incredibly proud of the resilience and dedication shown by young carers across Essex. We are committed to ensuring that young carers have the support and resources they need to thrive both in their caring roles and live happy and fulfilling lives.
“I would like to take this opportunity thank all of the young carers in Essex for everything they do and the difference they make.”
Support for young carers is provided through the council’s Young Carers Service. Support includes:
The service also supports schools to identify and better support young carers and works in partnership with the young carers voluntary and community sector

Praise to the young carers and those of any age, but should the responsibility of caring rather than helping, be foisted on youngsters at all??
