Battle of Britain Day commemorated with laying of wreaths

THE 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain was commemorated with the laying of wreaths at the North Weald Airfield Memorial.



Among those laying wreaths at Sunday’s service, which was organised by North Weald Bassett Parish Council, were Deputy Lieutenant of Essex Rosemary Padfield, and representatives from the parish, district and county councils, RAF 56 Squadron, ATC 414 Squadron, North Weald Airfield Museum, with a wreath also laid on behalf of the Royal Norwegian Air Force 132 Air Wing.

The ceremony, which included a two-minute silence, was taken by parish council chairman councillor Alan Buckley while the Last Post and Reveille was sounded by bugler Stephen Jenkins.
