Historic night for Harlow Tories as they win every ward

Elections / Fri 8th May 2026 at 03:35am

THE HARLOW Conservatives have swept the board at the District Council elections.

In what can only be described as an amazing result it looked like the Dan Swords Factor was vital.

And despite Reform performing spectacularly well around the country, they were put to the sword by Dan.

The Conservatives won eleven seats. Labour lost five. Reform did not win a single seat.

The council make up is now: Cons: 22. Labour: 10. Reform: 1

We will be publishing results from all the wards as well as interviews from leaders.

More follows.

At least local people have seen seance and local issues first 😊 as l said before general election beware whot you wish for Labour says it's a party for working class then srew everyone over it's no surprise to me how the labour party is performing. l wonder how many will leave a sinking ship before the general election. let the infighting begin just as the conservatives did when they new they was not going to win a general election. l can see reform steam rolling the next general election. is this a good thing l don't know maybe we should build a barrier around the UK 🤔😊

"They were put to the sword" really stupid words in the current climate... knife crime through the roof ... and you condone violence... really poor choice of words...

Now the Tories have put Reform in their place, can they finally grasp the nettle they were afraid to prior to the election, for fear of upsetting the flag sh...rs, and ensure the tatty, intimidating flags are removed from our town.

An interesting fact that nobody seems to have picked up on is that Labour were pushed in 3rd in all but 1 of the Wards.

Well, phew. Not having a single Reform member elected is good news to wake up to.

CHRIS VINCE…this must be a little embarrassing for you?! Turns out doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING except regurgitating the main headlines of your party as a whole, going to watch football every weekend & posting pictures of yourself (mostly looking unkempt) in an empty hall, is not working out for you AT ALL!! I am neither for one party or the other, however, credit where credit is due… WELL DONE DAN SWORDS 👏🏼 Harlow Town has spoken. You’re doing amazingly at being present, accountable and following through on what you say you’re going to do. SUCH A WELL NEEDED, LONG OVERDUE, BREATH OF FRESH AIR FOR POLITICS. Keep up the good work Dan.

So now there is no restrictions to what the Tories can do in Harlow, with probably the largest majority they have ever had. Let's see what they will do to Harlow? More high rises and expansion no doubt. Less infrastructure and jobs I fear. Will they try to ee-open our police station? Will they pressurise the County Council to repair our roads? Perhaps we can now look forward to seeing less of the leader who seems to think this has been a beauty pagent.

For a local election, I don't think this could have gone better for the people of Harlow. Chris Vince seems to think smiling for photos and running the occasional race is enough. Meanwhile, Dan Swords has a proven record of improving Harlow. Hopefully, the delay regarding the construction of the bus station is not a sign of things to come. Bringing major retailers to the town alongside extending the Oyster card to Harlow and improving the town centre will significantly boost the local economy. It would be great to see a busy high street and more younger people receiving job opportunities. Harlow has needed momentum for years. Dan Swords has laid the foundations, hopefully they don't start to crack.

M.....chris Vince the luckiest most useless Harlow mp ever £98k a year to spew Liebour lies and smile at photo calls. Sums him up.

Right from the word go, councillor and leader of Harlow Conservative Party Dan Sword, set out his vision for, and what he would do for Harlow. (Which is what all aspiring councillors or politicians would do) with Dan he doesn’t just talk about it, he follows it through with his team of councillors. It’s really refreshing that we have elected a man with integrity and speaks truthfully to the people of Harlow about his vision for Harlow. That’s why Dan Sword and his conservative council team deserved the right to carry on doing what they do for Harlow, I thank the people of Harlow for all there common sense in allowing him to carry on. Keep up the good work, and let’s see Harlow grow and flourish.

Chris Vince is a bit like Thunderbirds: if you look beyond the gloss you can see the strings attached.
