IN May, the Over 60’s Men in Division 2, had a disappointing day of results. The session started well with a 0-0 draw against Billericay Town Red, followed by a 3-0 victory over Grays Athletic. However, injuries to two players meant that they had no substitutes for the last two matches and went down to defeats by Little Oakley 1-2 and Leyton Orient 0-2, the first two teams in the League. This meant that Pirates remained in 3rd place but lost ground on the teams above.
The Over 65s Men in Division 1 had yet another mixed day. First up, they lost 0-1 against Billericay Town White, but thereafter results improved. They followed this with a 1-1 draw against Little Oakley and finished with a win, 2-1 over Leyton Orient Red. All this resulted in Prates staying in the same 7th place of 10 teams.

In the Women’s Premier League, Pirates are still chasing the leaders Billericay Town Blue. After this round of matches, they lost another point on their rivals, to trail 5 points behind. They lost the opening match against Billericay Town Blue, before three consecutive wins over Valley Green Diamonds 1-0, Leyton Orient 1-0 and Hawkwell Athletic 3-0. However, they were unable to make it 4 in a row, drawing their final match 0-0 with Beacon Hill Rovers.
The Women’s Championship team fared somewhat better, going through the day undefeated. Pirates started with a 0-0 draw against Beacon Hill Rovers White, followed by a 1-0 win over Romford Randoms Blue and then 0-0 draws with Billericay Town White and Billericay Town Red. Pirates finished the day with consecutive wins over Stanway Rovers (1-0) and Valley Green Emeralds (1-0). These results kept Pirates in 2nd place, but they moved up on equal points to the leaders, Billericay Town White, but with an inferior goal difference.
In the Men’s Over 74s League, 5 Pirates played for the All Stars squad of 7 for the third round of fixtures. They made a great start to win their first match of the season by defeating Norwich Soca 1-0. The second against Little Oakley saw another defeat by 2-4 which was disappointing after their earlier result. Billericay Town were unable to filed a team on the day, so All Stars were awarded 3 points which kept them in 3rd place out of the 4 teams in the League.
The Men’s Over 70s were due to play a round of matches on 26 May. However, these were postponed for safety reasons because of the high temperature. They have been rearranged for late July, when it may be a little cooler.
